MAMMS Welfare Trust (MWT), a non-political, non-profit organization founded under the leadership of Professor Dr. Sayeba Akhter, is pleased to submit this report to the NGO Affairs Bureau. The report provides a comprehensive account of the utilization of a foreign grant amounting to USD 10,000 from North American Humanitarian Aid and Relief (NAHAR), USA. The grant was awarded for the project titled “Support the Female Genital Organ Repair Operation in Bangladesh,” aimed at enhancing surgical care for underprivileged women suffering from obstetric fistula and other childbirth injuries.
MWT has a longstanding commitment to this cause and therefore established the MAMM’S Institute of Fistula and Women’s Health (MIFWOH) in 2012. Today, MIFWOH is a dedicated 22-bed facility in Dhaka, staffed by 25-30 professionals, providing holistic and free treatment for conditions such as fistula, genital prolapse, and incontinence. In line with this mission, the granted funds were utilized through a standard, transparent procurement process to acquire a state-of-the-art Microcontroller-based Electro Surgical Diathermy Machine. This critical piece of equipment has been successfully installed at MIFWOH and is now fully operational, directly enhancing the precision and safety of complex reconstructive surgeries for the institute’s most vulnerable patients. This report details the procurement process, equipment specifications, and current status, affirming MWT’s commitment to accountability and its mission to advance women’s health in Bangladesh through education, training, research, and direct care.
